Local Government - Council
The political structure of Rural Municipality of St. Andrews consists of the Head of Council (Mayor) and six Councillors, each representing a geographic ward.
Each ward has been divided so that there are approximately the same number of constituents in each ward, allowing for more equal representation by each Councillor. Wherever possible, the boundaries follow commonly recognizable landmarks such as Provincial Trunk Highways or roads, railway tracks etc. The wards all have populations that are estimated to fall within a range of 1,600 - 2,000 persons. The variation provides some allowance for a continuation of recent population trends as well as representing communities of interest.
The Council of the R.M. of St. Andrews holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.
All Council agendas and meeting correspondence are available for public viewing through our website. Anyone, anywhere in the world, can access the same agenda package as each member of Council and can easily access the issues that affect you. For example, you are able to look at the details of by-laws and subdivisions being proposed, and then decide if you would like to attend the Council meeting to listen to the debate or possibly make a presentation.
