Local Residents - Animal Control

The St. Andrews Animal Control Officer is responsible for the enforcement of the Animal Control By-Law. A copy of this by-law may be viewed on the R.M. website under by-laws. This by-law provides for protection against dogs “running at large” and allows provision to provide food and shelter for animals found abandoned and/or neglected and lost.

Every dog is required to be licensed:

  • $12.00 per annum spayed/neutered
  • $40.00 per annum not spayed/not neutered.

On occasion there are dogs and cats that do not get claimed by an owner and need a good home. If you are looking to adopt a pet in need, please contact Animal Control at 485-7450.

It is also very important that dogs and cats be vaccinated as there are different viruses that could make a pet sick if they are ever impounded.

The St. Andrews Animal Shelter is located at 732 Clandeboye Road.

Animal Control Officer Contact Information: Bonnie Riddell or Ari Farpelha - Phone: 485-7450 or 757-2083

Remember, “a license is your pet’s free phone call home”.
