National Volunteer Week 2025 - April 27 - May 3, 2025

National Volunteer Week - April 27 - May 3, 2025 - "Volunteers Make Waves"

This week is the perfect time to express how extremely grateful we are to have so many volunteers in the community that dedicate their time and energy to making it a better place. Volunteers come from all walks of life and each have their own uniqueness, but the one thing that they all have in common is a big heart. It takes a caring person to step up to the plate and give selflessly to the cause they are helping out.

There are many angels among us, those that are here now, and those that have passed that have contributed to the community and made a lasting impact. All the hard work has not gone unnoticed and we thank everyone for being an inspiration to many and for the tireless efforts given to help others.

In recognition of this week, we will be showcasing some of the many faces who make such a positive impact on our community.

Joan & Murray Wilkinson - Dedicated Volunteers of the Clandeboye Community Club

Murray and Joan Wilkinson"We are active volunteers with the Clandeboye Community Club and coordinate the Annual Summer Camp. Volunteering has been a meaningful and fulfilling part of our lives, and we take great pride in contributing to our community.

Having grown up in Clandeboye, we understand the benefits of a close-knit community and the importance of the events and activities that bring people together. While raising our children in the village, volunteering and helping organize events—such as dances, movie nights, and themed parties at the community hall. Today, we continue that tradition by supporting programs for both grandchildren and seniors.

With Murray now retired from long-haul trucking, he has more time to dedicate to the community. Including improving the hall’s facilities, managing maintenance, assisting with bookkeeping, and technology upgrades.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have a beautiful, well-maintained community hall, complete with a commercial-grade kitchen. It is vital for the entire community to gather, connect, and celebrate. We would encourage others to get involved—whether by joining the board or volunteering to run activities that their families may enjoy."
